Application

anhydrous calcium chloride (CaCl2) has a wide range of uses, mainly including the following aspects :

1)Drying and dehydration
anhydrous calcium chloride is commonly used as a desiccant of gases, liquids and solvents, such as nitrogen, oxygen, hydrogen, hydrogen chloride, sulfur dioxide and other gases, as well as petroleum and organic solvents (such as alcohol, ether, etc.) dehydrating agent. It can also effectively absorb moisture in the air and prevent the product from getting damp.
 

2) Water treatment and environmental protection
anhydrous calcium chloride removes fluoride ions from water by chemical precipitation, forming calcium fluoride insoluble in water (CaF2), is a common fluoride remover. In addition, it can also be used as boiler water treatment agent to improve water quality.

3)Construction industry
anhydrous calcium chloride can lower the freezing point of water, and is used as an antifreeze to melt snow and prevent ice on roads. At the same time, it can also accelerate the hardening of concrete and increase the cold resistance of building mortar, which is an important early strength agent in the construction industry.

4)Chemical industry
anhydrous calcium chloride is an important raw material for the manufacture of calcium metal, barium chloride and various calcium salts. It is also used as a chlorination agent and additive in the ferrous metallurgy industry.

5) Microbiology and Analytical Chemistry
In the microbial industry, anhydrous calcium chloride is used as a medium for haploid breeding. In analytical chemistry, it is used to determine the carbon content of steel, whole blood glucose, serum inorganic phosphorus and serum alkaline phosphatase activity.


6)Other uses
anhydrous calcium chloride is also used in the food industry chelating agent, curing agent, calcium fortifying agent and preservative, such as canned food, soybean products coagulant.
